FACT CHECK: ‘Lucky Draw’ For Jollibee’s 45th Anniversary Is Fake

Claim: A link circulating on social media leads to a site where viewers are asked to answer four questions involving familiarity and satisfaction with fast food chain Jollibee along with their personal information such as age bracket and gender.

After answering the questions, viewers are informed to have won P7,000 as part of Jollibee’s “45th Anniversary Lucky Draw.” Based on the instructions given, supposed winners have to share the link to five groups or 20 friends through Facebook Messenger before they can claim the cash prize.

Also included in the link are comments from supposed participants confirming the survey’s legitimacy.

“I thought it was a joke, but my family and I received gifts today, [I] hope more people take the survey @Jollibee” one comment read.

“It's true, I got a gift, did you get it?” another stated.

Rating: False, misleading

Facts: While Jollibee is on its 45th year, no survey and raffle draw have been announced on their social media accounts and other official channels to celebrate the occasion.

Last Feb. 14, Jollibee warned the public in an advisory posted on its Facebook page against “fraudulent online promos” circulating on social media.

It said the promos were using its trademark without prior permission.

“For your safety and protection, we wish to inform you that all Jollibee promotions and announcements can only be found in our official online channels,” the advisory read.

In the post’s comment section, a netizen brought up a screenshot of the survey, to which Jollibee replied that it was neither an official promotion nor affiliated with the fast food chain in any way.

Jollibee said it is closely monitoring these illegal activities and already working with its legal team to take immediate necessary action.
