TECNO Camon Slim 5G review: An ultra-slim phone that promises to make it lighter
The CAMON Slim 5G is pitched at young working women who juggle a lot in a day, and its campaign tagline, “Make It Lighter,” sets the tone for the whole package.
TECNO’s newest CAMON smartphone is built around one idea: Carry less, do more. The CAMON Slim 5G is pitched at young working women who juggle a lot in a day, and its campaign tagline, “Make It Lighter,” sets the tone for the whole package.
Ahead of its Oct. 1 Philippine launch, here’s a look at what the phone offers.
A 6.39-mm body with a 6,000 mAh battery
The headline of the smartphone is thickness. At 6.39 mm and 171 g, the phone is meant to sit flat in the hand and slip easily into a bag or pocket. TECNO says the slim frame doesn't shortchange stamina, packing a 6,000 mAh battery with 45-W charging.
It comes in Burgundy Red, TECNO’s lead shade, plus Gossamer White, Matisse Black, and Rebel Pink.
A 50-MP Sony camera with Super-Zoom FlashSnap
CAMON Slim 5G’s main camera is a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 700C sensor (1/156 inches with f/1.8 aperture), joined by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 32-megapixel selfie shooter. The marquee feature is Super-Zoom FlashSnap, designed to capture moving subjects sharply even when zoomed in. Optical image stabilization helps steady shots in low light. Universal Tone aims to flatter skin tones while keeping colors realistic, and the phone can shoot underwater.
Built for rain, splashes, and spills
The CAMON Slim 5G is rated IP69K, IP69, and IP68 for dust and water resistance. It has protection against two meters of submersion for 30 minutes, high-pressure jets and 80°C hot water. Rain Touch prevents ghost touches on a wet screen, and the body meets the MIL-STD 810H shock-resistance standard.
A 1.5K, 144Hz AMOLED display
Up front is a 6.78-inch flat AMOLED screen with 1.5K resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate, plus 2160 Hz PWM dimming and a TÜV blue-light filter for eye comfort. A MediaTek Dimensity 7300e chip, 8 GB of RAM (expandable by 16 GB) and 256 GB of storage power the phone, which runs Android 16 with HiOS 16. TECNO says the smartphone has three years of major Android updates and five years of security patches.
The TECNO MagBadge: A mirror, a viewfinder and a keychain
The most unusual part of the package is the MagBadge, a small magnetic accessory that clips onto the phone's back. It has a 1.73-inch OLED display and a 450 mAh battery, and it weighs 29 g.
The TECNO MagBadge can be a fix for common camera headaches. For group selfies, it previews the rear ultra-wide camera, so no one is cropped out. For vlogging, it lets users watch the frame live and trigger the shutter from up to 10 meters away. It also helps with low-light selfies by letting users shoot with the rear camera and flash. The badge doubles as a mini display for customized wallpaper, a timer, and simple games.
