There are no talks about possible scenarios in case Vice President Sara Duterte is convicted in her impeachment trial, Malacañang said on Thursday, Oct. 15.

"There is no conviction yet. We cannot anticipate. We cannot speculate because the defense will present its evidence. There is no decision yet from the impeachment court so it is not being discussed," Palace press officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a media briefing.

“So in fairness to and out of respect to the position of vice president, it is not being discussed. Let us allow the process to move forward,” she added.

Previous reports claim that House Speaker Faustino Dy III is being eyed as a possible successor to Duterte if she is convicted in her impeachment trial and removed from office.

The vice president is facing an impeachment trial for alleged unexplained wealth. She has denied the allegations against her, describing them as politically motivated.
