Having a pet to come home to can be exhilarating, as they can truly brighten up anyone’s day. Because they are practically a member of the family, you want to give them the best care and treatment whenever they need medical attention. Especially because your pet can’t speak and tell you how they are feeling, bringing them to a trusted veterinarian is necessary for proper diagnosis and treatment. Fur parents agree that self-medication is a big no-no.

Adopting a pet is a huge responsibility and commitment. Like a child, they also need to be fed, taken care of, and loved. It is important to be financially prepared when you decide to be a fur mom or dad. Emergencies can happen and monthly check-ups are also advised so you can make sure that your fur baby is always healthy.

Here is a list of trusted veterinary clinics and hospitals based on recommendations by fur moms, for your reference:

Animal House Veterinary Hospital

Branches: Quezon City, Makati, Alabang, Manila, Pasig, Bicutan, Greenhills, Taguig

Hospital Hours:

Manila, Pasig, Greenhills, West Gate: 8 AM to 5 PM

QC, Alabang, Bicutan: 8 AM to 6 PM

Taguig: 8 AM to 7 PM

Makati: 24 hours for emergency cases

Ish Rosales, 24, has four dogs that have been treated at the hospital. She recounts the first time she visited Animal House Veterinary Hospital back in 2010.

My dog, Jojo, was battling a life-or-death situation. She had to undergo surgery and multiple blood transfusions and was confined for a month at Animal House and was able to heal well. Since then, we've been bringing our other dogs Uni, Saka, and Caramel there,” she shares.

Ish says the one-month confinement, three blood transfusions, and surgery cost them around Php 70,000 to Php 100,000.

I think they [charge] more than the usual veterinary clinic, but we felt confident that they'd be able to give the best care possible. Anything is reasonable when you're talking about a member of your family.

Animal House, being a veterinary hospital, makes the whole process professional. Their hospital offers more treatments and procedures. Their doctors and staff were very friendly and compassionate. You could definitely feel that they care for every animal they treat. Even the nurses [know] every pet's name. My family and I were allowed to visit her daily, and on days we couldn't go, we would receive text messages about her condition,” Ish shares.

Twenty-eight-year-old Halle Ramiscal has two dogs: Archy and Aki. She brought Archy in May 2020 to Peralta Veterinary Clinic for bladder stone surgery and follow up check-ups. The surgery cost her around Php 30,000.

“I super recommend Peralta Veterinary Clinic for any pet concerns, especially for surgical needs. Their clinic is equipped with all the machines needed for testing (Xray, CBC, etc.) and admission for surgery which small clinics do not have. Dr. Henry Cabiao is the specialist who handled Archy's surgery. Everything went smoothly and I was updated with everything via Viber. Also, he answers all my questions even months after the surgery. They made me feel at ease that our baby is recovering properly,” Halle narrates.

Pet Hub Parañaque

Halle says, “I also recommend Pet Hub veterinary specially for emergency cases since they are open 24/7. We usually go there for check-ups and emergencies since it’s conveniently inside our village. Also, Dra. Grace is very nice and attends to our babies gently. They recommend very good vet clinics also if they do not have the capability to handle the case.”

She shares that the usual check-ups cost around Php 300-500, which she mentions is reasonable compared to other veterinary clinics.

Kings Road Veterinary Clinic

Location: Cuevasville, Daang Hari, Molino 4, Bacoor, Cavite

Clinic Hours: 8 AM to 6 PM daily

Kings Road Veterinary Clinic is located at the border of Las Piñas and Cavite. Rio Songco, 24, is fur mom to many dogs at home, including a rescued “aspin” named Poppy. She first visited the clinic in 2020 when one of their older dogs, Bambam, felt lethargic and was throwing up. This year, she also had to bring her other dogs, Casper and Poppy, for ear mites and yeast and bacterial infection.

The ’kuyas‘ are very friendly and patient with all the furry patients coming in and out of the clinic, which I appreciate. It’s like they connect with our pets, and they don’t just do what they do because they are obligated to. I highly recommend Dr. Irene Aguilar because she’s very approachable and helpful in explaining my dog’s condition, the aftercare, etc. It’s easier for me to trust them knowing the veterinarians handling my babies earned their degree from UPLB,” Rio shares.

Rates depend on the tests and procedure. You can get your dog checked for only Php 400. It’s the prescribed medicine that can be costly. In my experience, my average bill usually runs between Php 2,500 and Php 3,500 per check-up visit.

“It’s a different scenario for confinement, of course. Their rates are a bit pricier compared to other vet clinics, but you get what you pay for since their facility and equipment are topnotch, so you get lab results instantly,” she adds.
