#TheBigStory | Philippine National Police records presented during Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial showed that she and her husband, lawyer Manases Carpio, have a combined 51 registered firearms.
House prosecutor and Manila 3rd District Rep. Joel Chua also told “The Big Story” on One News on Monday, Sept. 28, said firearms owned by the Dutertes should also be declared in the Vice President’s statements of assets, liabilities and net worth.
He said undeclared firearms could be considered part of the allegations involving unexplained wealth.
Police Maj. Joericson Sangalang testified during the impeachment trial on Monday that the 51 firearms with a combined market value of more than P7.2 million were registered to the Vice President and her husband.
Prior to the direct examination of Sangalang, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri and other senator-judges asked the prosecution why it deemed relevant to present a witness who would testify on Duterte's firearms, for Article II, which accuses her of possessing unexplained wealth.
Presiding officer Francis Escudero eventually allowed the prosecution to complete its presentation of the witness but asked it to shorten its line of questioning.
In an interview with “Sa Totoo Lang” on One PH on Monday, Manila 6th District Rep. Benny Abante also questioned why the Vice President needed 22 firearms despite her security detail.
