Stay Out Of Politics, Cops Told
“We have no business involving ourselves in politics. We do not have that privilege. That is not part of our mandate,” Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.

Philippine National Police officers posting online content should steer clear of politics and focus on their mandate of maintaining peace and order, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said on Sunday, June 7.
“We have no business involving ourselves in politics. We do not have that privilege. That is not part of our mandate,” Nartatez said.
“Let us focus on what we are trained for and what the Filipino people expect us to do: enforce the law and maintain peace and order,” he added.
Social media platforms continue to be flooded with fake news and commentaries by vloggers and content creators.
Nartatez urged the public to exercise caution when consuming information online, echoing an earlier warning from the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center about the spread of misinformation, disinformation and unverified content.
As political developments continue to trigger rallies and other mass actions, Nartatez assured the public that the PNP is prepared to maintain order and respond to any disturbance.
Anti-crime drive
Meanwhile, the PNP is supporting Malacañang’s directive for state agencies to uphold a nationwide anti-crime coordination campaign.
Under Memorandum Circular 120, state agencies and local government units must assist the National Police Commission in implementing the 2026 National Crime Prevention Program (NCPP).
Serving as the government’s latest blueprint for a cross-agency crime-fighting strategy, the NCPP prioritizes the modernization of law enforcement tools, digital data interoperability and enhancement of community-based initiatives for crime prevention.
Establishing a national crime prevention knowledge management system is mandated by the program.
“The PNP stands ready to enhance coordination, intelligence sharing and law enforcement operations to protect the public,” Nartatez said. — With Rainier Allan Ronda
