Pang-shopping na, Pang-LRT-2 pa!

Pang-shopping na, Pang-LRT-2 pa!
Skip the ticketing lines! Commuting in Metro Manila just got a major upgrade. You can now tap your Visa or Mastercard (debit, credit, or prepaid), use NFC-enabled mobile wallets like Google Pay, or scan a GCash QR to pay your fare directly at any Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) turnstile.

Powered by RCBC in partnership with Visa, the LRTA, and the DOTr, this is the country’s first implementation of the Visa and Mastercard global standard for EMV card acceptance for transit.  The rail-based automated fare collection system seamlessly integrates open-loop EMV cards, mobile NFC, and QR payments into a single, interoperable platform. Say goodbye to buying dedicated transit cards—your everyday payment methods are now your ticket to ride!

Ride the LRT-2 for Only P1!
To celebrate this digital milestone, RCBC is rolling out the exclusive PISO Fare Cashback Promo. From July 13 to 31, 2026, experience the country’s newest cashless transit system and enjoy a P1.00 fare at the LRT-2!

Who is eligible: The promo is open to millions of active RCBC Debit and Credit Card holders, as well as MySSS RCBC DiskarTech Debit Card holders.

How it works: Just tap your eligible RCBC card at the turnstile! The reward for this promo is fulfilled in the form of a cashback to your account.

A Seamless, Future-Ready Commute
Transportation authorities expect this new payment system to drastically streamline fare collection for the 58.7 million passengers who use the LRT-2 each year.  "Beyond banking, we see digital finance as an enabler of more connected, seamless, and efficient daily experiences for Filipinos," says RCBC President and CEO Reggie Cariaso.

Elevating the Urban Transit Experience
The LRT-2 integration marks Visa’s fifth major transit project in the Philippines, following successful implementations at the MRT-3 and bus systems in Cebu, Mandaue, and Bacolod. Jeffrey Navarro, Visa’s Country Manager for the Philippines, highlighted the broader impact: “We are proud to help expand access to secure, interoperable digital payments that immediately improve commuter convenience and urban mobility.”

Bridging Lifestyle and Mobility
This milestone is about making digital payments deeply embedded in your daily routine. “This is a defining milestone. For the first time, commuters can seamlessly use everyday bank cards and mobile wallets in one interoperable transit ecosystem," noted Lito Villanueva, RCBC Executive Vice President and Chief Innovations and Inclusion Officer.

Arniel Vincent Ong, President and CEO of RCBC Credit Cards, emphasized the need to keep up with everyday transactions: “We are proud to deliver secure, convenient payment solutions that support the cashless lifestyle of millions of commuters.”
