Orchestra Of The Filipino Youth Mounts ‘Regenerative Future’ Concert On Aug. 16

The Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY) will mount the fundraising concert, “Music for a Regenerative Future,” on Aug. 16 at The Proscenium Theater at Rockwell.
Led by Maestro Gerard Salonga, the evening will celebrate nature, sustainability, and ecological harmony through a curated repertoire of nature-inspired orchestral masterworks. The program opens with Antonino Buenaventura’s Philippine countryside portrait By the Hillside, followed by Takashi Yoshimatsu’s contemplative And Birds Are Still....
Sixteen-year-old Filipino pianist Daniel Asis will join the orchestra as a featured soloist to perform George Gershwin’s iconic Rhapsody in Blue. The performance will culminate in Ludwig van Beethoven’s timeless Symphony No. 6 in F Major, “Pastoral,” honoring the beauty and restorative power of the natural world.
Founded in 2012 by Ang Misyon, Inc. (AMI), the OFY provides intensive orchestral training, mentorship, and performance opportunities to talented, underprivileged young musicians. To date, AMI has transformed the lives of over 1,100 scholars.
