CELEBRITY TOP 10: Cebu City Stunner Is New Miss Universe Philippines; Raffy Tulfo’s ‘Idol In Action’ Signs Off
Miss Cebu City Beatrice Luigi Gomez was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2021 during the grand coronation on Thursday night, Sept. 30. This and more in today’s edition of Celebrity Top 10, Oct. 1, 2021.

Top 10: Apple wins bidding for George Clooney, Brad Pitt starrer
Apple Originals is the lucky bidder that won in one of the biggest Hollywood bidding wars yet, which is for the paper to produce and distribute a thriller film that will star A-listers George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
The two are also co-producing the film under their production labels Smokehouse Pictures and Plan B Entertainment, and it’s directed by Jon Watts.
Among the bidders that Apple Originals has beaten are MGM, Amazon, Universal, and Warner Bros.
The movie is reportedly about fixers who will be assigned to the same job, and then, they cross paths.
Production and release dates are yet to be announced.
Top 9: Rowan Atkinson, Olivia Colman join ‘Wonka’
Production has started for the musical “Wonka” starring Timothèe Chalamet in the lead role. Joining him are star-studded actors Rowan Atkinson, Olivia Colman and Sally Hawkins.
In “Wonka,” Timothée plays Willy Wonka before he became a chocolate factory magnate.
Filming is now happening in the United Kingdom, and release will be in 2023.
Top 8: Freddie Highmore is married
Freddie Highmore confirmed in his guest appearance for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” that he is married.
“The Good Doctor” star said he secretly married “a very wonderful woman.” He also showed off his wedding ring.
The actor refused to reveal the identity of his wife, but she is also British.
Aside from “The Good Doctor” series, Freddie is known in movies like “Finding Neverland” and “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.”
Top 7: ‘Book of Boba Fett’ premieres December on Disney+
Here's something to make your Christmas merry!
“The Mandalorian” spinoff entitled “Book of Boba Fett” will premiere on Disney+ in December.
The series is about the adventures of bounty hunter Boba Fett played by Temuera Morrison and mercenary Fennec Shand played by Ming-na Wen as they navigate the galaxy’s underworld.
Aside from this, multiple live-action “Star Wars” shows are in the works in Disney+.
So for fans out there, you better watch out.
Top 6: Britney Spears’ father suspended from conservatorship

Britney Spears is truly on the road to freedom.
In response to the singer's petition, the judge ruled for his father to be suspended from her conservatorship.
This means Jamie Spears will no longer serve as her conservator and he's immediately removed from handling Britney’s estate.
In previous hearings, Britney’s camp reiterated that the conservatorship was abusive, toxic and cruel, and that the singer wants her father out of her life.
The judge appointed an accountant to temporarily control the estate of the singer until further decisions are made.
Another hearing is set for Nov. 12 to determine if the whole thing will finally be ended.
Top 5: Alessandra De Rossi launches own label
Alessandra de Rossi is back to her other love, which is music.
But this time, she is neither launching a single nor an album but her own music label called Awoo Records.
She also signed up two inaugural artists for her new label. They are Fil-German Hya and Alfa, whom she discovered in “Bangon Talentadong Pinoy” where she was a previous judge.
Awoo means “A World of Our Own,” a sub label of Lilystar Records headed by Clem Castro of Orange and Lemons, who serves as her partner and adviser.
Top 4: Filipino films to compete in Tokyo Int’l Film Festival
Miikhail Red’s “Arisaka” and Brillante Mendoza’s “Resbak” (English title is “Payback”) are included in the main competition of the Tokyo International Film Festival.
“Arisaka” is an action-thriller set in Bataan. It is led by Maja Salvador and Mon Confiado.
Meanwhile, “Resbak: is about a bike thief who seeks vengeance on his boss. It stars Vince Rillon, Nash Aguas and Jay Manalo.
Other Filipino films in the festival are “Gensan Punch” in the gala section and “The Brokers” in Asian future category.
The Tokyo International Film Festival will run from Oct. 30 to Nov. 8.
Top 3: Coldplay, BTS collab music video is out
The much-awaited music video of “My Universe,” the first collaboration of Coldplay and BTS is out now.
As expected, fans of Coldplay and the BTS ARMY joined forces because just 24 hours after it was uploaded on Coldplay’s YouTube channel, it already earned almost 20 million views.
Fans are amazed in the outer space, universal and intergalactic theme of the video showing the fun side of the two groups.
Top 2: Cebu City’s bet wins Miss Universe Philippines crown
Beatrice Luigi Gomez is the new Miss Universe Philippines.
The Cebuana beauty bested other candidates with her wit and charm as she also bagged the Best in Swimsuit and Best in Evening gown awards.
Aside from being Miss Cebu City, Beatrice is the first out-and-proud LGBTQ+ member who got the Miss Universe Philippines title. She’s also got tattoos and she isn’t afraid to show them off!
Katrina Dimaranan of Taguig City is Miss Universe Philippines Tourism while Victoria Velasquez Vincent of Cavite won Miss Universe Philippines Charity.
Former Asia’s Top Model Maureen Wroblewitz bagged the first runner-up spot while another fan fave, Steffi Rose Aberasturi of Cebu province got second runner-up.
Will Bea clinch another Miss Universe crown for the Philippines? We’ll find out when the Miss Universe pageant happens in Israel in December.
Top 1: TV5, Cignal TV programs recognized in Asian Academy creative awards; ‘Idol in Action’ signs off
Five programs under TV5 and Cignal TV emerged as national winners for the Philippines in Asian Academy Creative Awards. This is Asia Pacific’s most prestigious awards for creative excellence.
Maja Salvador won best actress in a leading role for “Niña Niño,” which also bagged the Best Drama Series.
“Sing Galing” won in Best Non-Scripted Entertainment while “The Wall Philippines” for Best Adaptation of an Existing Format.
Of course, our “Iba sa 5” got the Best Promo or Trailer award.
National winners conference will be on Nov. 29 and 30 and the awards ceremonies will be on Dec. 2 and 3.
Meanwhile, Raffy Tulfo’s “Idol in Action” has just aired its finale episode today, Oct. 1.
It’s been a year and three months since the public service show changed the game for mid-morning shows on TV with its public service and entertainment segments.
Early this week, Raffy has already clarified that it’s not because of the show’s performance, because in fact, “Idol In Action” has been doing great in the ratings game. He said it’s just because he chose to back out from the show.
