UP Diliman Has 150 Summas
The University of the Philippines Diliman will hold its first face-to-face commencement exercises since the start of the pandemic on July 31, 2022.

A record 150 summa cum laude graduates will lead the 2022 commencement exercises of the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City on July 31.
The university on Saturday, July 23, released the initial list of those who will receive the highest academic distinction, bestowed upon graduates who earned a weighted average of 1.20 or better.
It surpassed the previous record of 55 summa cum laude graduates in UP Diliman in 2019.
Based on the list, the College of Engineering has the most number of summa cum laude graduates this year with 51, followed by the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy with 30 and College of Science with 15.
The College of Mass Communication and College of Arts and Letters each have eight summa cum laude graduates, followed by the Virata School of Business with seven, College of Human Kinetics with six and Asian Institute of Tourism and School of Economics with five each.
The School of Statistics has three summa cum laude graduates, while there are two each from the College of Social Work and Community Development, School of Library and Information Studies, College of Fine Arts, College of Education and UP Diliman Extension Programs in Pampanga and Olongapo.
There is one summa cum laude graduate each from the National College of Public Administration and Governance and the College of Architecture.
The university has yet to release the final number of graduates, including those receiving academic distinctions.
Earlier, the university said it would hold physical graduation for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
It will be held at the open-air university amphitheater located behind the UP administration building.
According to the guidelines released by the Office of the University Registrar, all attendees must have completed the primary series of COVID-19 vaccine.
Graduates are allowed to have one companion, except summa cum laude graduates who can be accompanied by a maximum of two guests.
UP Diliman has yet to announce this year’s commencement speaker.
