Tropical Depression Crising Maintains Strength, Signal No. 1 Up In Some Areas
The state weather bureau said the tropical depression was also enhancing the southwest monsoon, which will bring widespread rains and strong winds across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao through the weekend.

Tropical depression Crising maintained its strength while moving west northwestward over the sea of East Bicol region, with the center estimated at 535 kilometers east of Juban, Sorsogon as of 4 a.m. and maximum sustained winds of 55 km per hour.
In an advisory issued at 5 a.m. today, July 17, the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said strong winds are expected to extend up to 300 km from the center of Crising.
Signal No. 1 was hoisted over these areas in Luzon: Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, the northeastern portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao), Quirino, Kalinga, the eastern portion of Mountain Province (Sadanga, Barlig, Paracelis, Natonin), the eastern portion of Ifugao (Alfonso Lista, Aguinaldo, Mayoyao, Banaue, Hingyon, Lagawe, Lamut), the northeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Kasibu, Quezon, Bagabag, Diadi) and Apayao.
On Wednesday, July 16, PAGASA said the tropical depression was also enhancing the southwest monsoon, which will bring widespread rains and strong winds across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao through the weekend.
From today until Friday afternoon, July 18, heavy rains ranging from 100 to 200 millimeters are forecast in Catanduanes. Moderate rainfall between 50 and 100 mm is expected in Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon and Northern Samar.
Due to the monsoon, 100 to 200 mm of rain may also fall over Occidental Mindoro, Antique and Negros Occidental while 50 to 100 mm is expected in Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Palawan, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Oriental and Zamboanga del Norte.
By Friday, heavy rains will shift northward, with 100 to 200 mm expected in Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao and Ilocos Norte. Rainfall between 50 and 100 mm, meanwhile, is forecast in Isabela, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao and Ilocos Sur.
