SpaceX’s Starlink Internet In Phl By End-2023

Data Lake, which announced the agreement with SpaceX’s Starlink on Tuesday, will act as an authorized Starlink reseller and integrator for customers in the Philippines.

The company has been conducting technical demonstrations of Starlink in the Philippines since early 2022 and said it has proven the service’s “quality and performance throughout the country.”

Data Lake also highlighted that the service can be useful during natural disasters. The Philippines experiences 24 typhoons a year on average. Communication to islands and rural areas is vital during these situations, the company said. 

Starlink said its easy deployment performance is perfect for an archipelago of 7,000 islands. Starlink’s industry-leading satellite constellation is a perfect fit for the Philippines with reliable, sustainable internet connectivity, even in times of natural disasters.

“We’re excited about Starlink providing fast, reliable internet to the Filipino people. This can help connect families, businesses and education,” Almeda said.

He added that he wants to establish a long-term relationship with SpaceX.
