Duterte Packing Up For Return To Davao
Sen. Bong said President Duterte will stay in Davao City and enjoy his retirement as a private citizen with his family.

President Duterte is already packing up his personal belongings at Malacañang and preparing for his return to Davao City, according to Sen. Bong Go.
Duterte’s administration will end at noon on June 30 as the term of president-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. begins.
“As for our dear President Duterte, he is starting to pack his belongings to go home to Davao City. He will stay there and enjoy his retirement as a private citizen with his family,” Go, who served as special assistant to the President, said over the weekend.
“Although it is sad that his term is coming to an end because I know he still has a lot to do for the people, I am also happy because he can rest with the confidence that he gave all he could to fulfill his role as a father of the country,” he said.
The senator reiterated his appeal to the country’s next leaders to continue the good programs and policies initiated by the Duterte administration to provide a more comfortable life for all Filipinos, especially toward recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
He extended his warm congratulations to Marcos and vice president-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio for their victory in the recent elections.
Go also expressed hope that the newly proclaimed leaders can effectively fulfill their duties to the nation, as he renewed his call for them to pursue further the programs and reforms that Duterte started, which benefitted Filipinos in need.
“I hope that the new president and vice president will fulfill the role entrusted to them by our countrymen, especially in helping the poor and needy Filipinos,” Go said.
“I have only one request and a reminder: as President Duterte has always instructed, the welfare of our countrymen must come first. Nothing should be neglected, and everyone should enjoy the comfort of good service from our government,” he added.
Emphasizing that the next administration must focus on the government’s pandemic efforts and ensure that no Filipino is left behind on the path toward recovery, the senator called for unity among Filipinos as the country is poised to start a new page in its history.
“The election is over and it is time to unite and focus on work for the good of every Filipino. We will begin a new chapter of life as a people under the new administration,” he said.
“Even though our leadership in the government has changed, we will continue to serve our common goal of a safer and more comfortable life for every Filipino,” he added.
Go likewise vowed that he would continue to work closely with the next administration to promote the welfare of Filipinos, as he gave reassurance that the Duterte administration has started the transition process following the issuance of Administrative Order No. 47, which mandates the creation of Duterte’s transition team.
“The two new highest officials of our country are smart, talented and know their duties. They are also behind the millions of Filipinos who stood up for their vote in the last election. When the support of the people is strong, they are expected to implement their programs that will bring our country and the people to development,” Go said.
“As a senator, I will continue to support the future programs of the new administration, especially those that can provide assistance to the poor and take care of the welfare of ordinary citizens,” he added.
