2 LPAs Spotted; Heavy Rainfall Warning Issued Due To Southwest Monsoon

Two low pressure areas (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility are being monitored and one of them could develop into a tropical cyclone.

In an advisory issued at 4 a.m. today, July 22, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said the first LPA was spotted at 1,140 kilometers east of Central Luzon while the other one was found at 370 km east of Calayan, Cagayan.

But PAGASA said it is southwest monsoon that is affecting the country.

The southwest monsoon will continue soaking most parts of the country, with heavy rains expected in various areas.

In another weather advisory issued today, PAGASA said some 100 to 200 millimeters of rainfall will drench Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal and Occidental Mindoro, while between 50 to 100 millimeters of rains will pour over Pangasinan, Tarlac, Laguna and Quezon.

By Wednesday, July 23, 100 to 200 mm of rainfall will be experienced in Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, and Occidental Mindoro; and 50 to 100 mm in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental.

By Thursday, July 24, 100 to 200 mm of rainfall is forecast in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro; and 50 to 100 mm in Metro Manila, Apayao, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Aklan, and Antique.
