A Filipina laser technician in the United Arab Emirates will receive 25,000 Emirati dirham (AED) or P387,250 a month for 25 years as she won win in one of UAE’s weekly draws.

Freilyn Angob, 32, was announced on Wednesday, Sept. 20, as the second grand prize winner of the Emirates Draw’s FAST5 draw. According to Emirates Draw, Angob won the 25-year payout after matching five out of 42 numbers in the winning sequence.

In “compliance with UAE laws,” Emirates Draw has also committed to ensuring the monthly payment of this prize for the duration.

“I will never forget that moment. I thought to myself again, maybe I won a small cash prize. But when I received the congratulatory e-mail mentioning that I won the grand prize, me and my fiancé jumped with joy,” Angob was quoted as saying.

“We were planning to get married, but my financial situation didn’t help. This victory will end all my worries and give me financial security for a long time,” she added.

Based on reports by Khaleej Times and other media entities, Angob has been in the UAE for the last 10 years. Her family used to earn through a small store ran by her father, who was eventually diagnosed with cancer while Angob was in school.

With their financial status already a source of worry, Angob moved to the UAE to better provide for her family. Originally a dental nurse, she pursued further education to eventually become a laser technician.

And now she has become the second winner of the FAST5, which was only established in May 2023. She followed Indian design consultant Mohammed Adil Khan, who first won the grand prize in July.

“Emirates Draw FAST5 offers a one-of-a-kind grand prize that promises a worry-free life for years to come. Today it’s me and tomorrow, it could be you, so keep playing and wait for your turn to win big!” Angob told her fellow Filipinos.

Paul Chader, Emirates Draw head of marketing, also commended Angob’s win, noting the “excitement” over having a grand prize winner “in such a short time.”

“This reiterates the fact that Emirates Draw stands as a beacon of hope, providing participants with multiple opportunities not just to win, but to transform their lives, turning countless dreams into reality,” he said.

Emirates Draw is a “CSR (corporate social responsibility) first” firm which executes events, draws, and products which “serve society in an entertaining, yet conscious manner.”

Currently, they have three draws in MEGA7, EASY6, and FAST5. In particular, FAST5 is the weekly draw held every Saturday at 9 p.m. UAE time (1 a.m. Philippine time).

Apart from the grand prize, a raffle draw is also held, where three winners can win a guaranteed P1.16 million (75,000 AED), P773,983 (50,000 AED), and nearly P387,000 (25,000 AED).
