CELEBRITY TOP 10: More Celebrities Join Political Race; Ed Sheeran To Appear In ‘The Voice’ US
Several showbiz personalities have filed their certificates of candidacy for various positions in the 2022 elections. This and more in today’s edition of Celebrity Top 10, Oct. 8, 2021.
Top 10: ‘Spencer’ drops new poster
The highly-anticipated movie about Princess Diana just released a theatrical poster.
Posing for it is the star of the film, Kristen Stewart, together with Jack Farthing, Sean Harris, Timothy Spall and Sally Hawkins.
“Spencer” already had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival where critics praised Kristen’s performance.
The public will be able to enjoy it as well before this year ends.
Top 9: Ed Sheeran to appear in ‘The Voice’ US as mega mentor
Award-winning hit maker Ed Sheeran will have a special role in “The Voice” US.
In the coming weeks, Ed will be the mega mentor of the contestants. He will be a part of the “knockout round” wherein he will use his experience to mentor the remaining artists in their technical choices and vocals.
This latest season of “The Voice” features returning coaches Blake Shelton, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson and the new part of the show, Ariana Grande.
Top 8: Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion win big at BET Hip Hop Awards
It was a night for hip hop music as some of the best hip hop artists gathered together to spread good vibes and cool beats.
The 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards happened at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts center in Atlanta, Georgia, where Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion swept the major awards including song of the year, best hip hop video and best collaboration for “WAP.”
Tyler the Creator won hip hop album of the year and best live performer, while Missy Elliot got video director of the year.
The most coveted hip hop artist of the year award went to Lil Baby.
Top 7: Peter Dinklage stars in ‘Cyrano’
Peter Dinklage leads the new take on Edmond Rostand’s french play called “Cyrano.”
Joining Peter as his love interest is Haley Bennett and the “other guy” is played by Kelvin Harrison Jr.
The film directed by Joe Wright is based on Rostand’s “Cyrano de Bergerac” which tells the story of the poet Cyrano and his love for Roxanne. However Roxanne, has an eye for another man named Christian who cannot speak eloquently, so he asked for the help of Cyrano to write love letters for Roxanne.

Top 6: Photobombing gorilla dies at 14
Remember the mountain gorilla that went viral after photobombing in a selfie photo?
The Virunga National Park in Congo announced the passing of Ndakasi, the well-known gorilla, after prolonged illness.
She died in the arms of the ranger who rescued her and the one who took the viral selfie.
Ndakasi was born in 2007 and was rescued after her mother was shot by armed men.
Top 5: Warner Music Philippines launches GLOPM
Warner Music Philippines officially launches GLOPM or Global Pinoy Music, a collaborative movement which strengthens its global effort to promote Filipino music.
The campaign aims to showcase Pinoy musicians through borderless platforms while creating opportunities for them to team up with other artists around the world.
WMP is pairing domestic talent with Filipino producers and/or Fil-global artists through GLOPM. The initiative aims to be a leading source of original and diverse Filipino music, with tracks that reflect the culture and shared experiences of every Filipino.
The first batch of Pinoy artists who were launched include Leanne and Naara, Reon, Quest and Catriona gray. They had a collaboration with international producers who had worked with biggest stars like Justin Bieber, BTS, Chris Brown, Christina Aguilera, Cee-lo Green and many more. They were August Rigo, Xerxes Bakker and Kuya Productions.
Top 4: Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto, Willie Revillame won’t run in elections
These two big names in showbiz ended months of speculations that they’re running for national positions.
In the statement released by Batangas 6th District Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto, she said that after careful consideration and limitations in conducting a campaign during the pandemic, she decided not to seek any elective position.
Meanwhile, TV host Willie Revillame announced in his program that despite the talks with President Duterte, he decided not to run because he believes he can still serve the people even without a government position.
Both Vilma and Willie were earlier rumored to be running for the Senate.
He even emphasized that he was not good in speaking English and in reading and drafting laws. According to him, he might be ridiculed by veteran senators and so he didn’t want the public vote to be wasted.
Top 3: More celebrities file their certificates of candidacy
While Vilma and Willie won’t aim for elective positions, their colleagues in showbiz are deciding otherwise.
On Thursday, talent manager Arnold Vegafria and Claudine Barretto filed their certificates of candidacy as mayor and councilor of Olongapo city, respectively.
“TGIS” loveteam Bobby Andrews and Angelu De Leon are also running for councilor in Quezon City and Pasig City, their respective areas.
James Yap, Aiko Melendez, Jomari Yllana and Nash Aguas want to be councilors as well in San Juan City, Quezon City, Parañaque City and Cavite City, respectively.
Jolo Revilla is seeking a congressional seat in the 1st District of Cavite.
Herbert Bautista is aiming for a Senate seat while beauty queen Sharifa Akeel-Mangudadatu is running as governor of Sultan Kudarat.
And there’s Arjo Atayde who’s running to be Quezon City 1st District representative.
Tom Rodriguez, Karla Estrada and Nora Aunor also filed certificates of nomination and acceptance to become party-list representatives.
Top 2: Celebrities wear pink for VP Leni Robredo
Some celebrities posted in pink to express their support for Vice President Leni Robredo after she announced her plans to run for the presidency on Thursday, Oct. 7.
Some of them are Angel Locsin, K Brosas, Jim Paredes, Liza Soberano, Agot Isidro, Jolina Magdangal, Tippy Dos Santos, Enchong Dee, Lara Quigaman, Rica Peralejo, Kokoy De Santos, Elijah Canlas, Gary Valenciano and many more. They posted images in pink, or wore pink clothes or pink lipstick.
Top 1: Adele shares her life in Vogue
For the first time in five years, Adele had her first sit-down interview with British and American Vogue — a first for the magazine to have one cover star — where she opened up about her life, divorce, upcoming album and being back on spotlight.
She discussed what it was like raising her son as well as her preparation and motivation to do another album.
Her upcoming single “Easy On Me” will be released next week.
