‘ACelebration’: Assumption Velada 2023
The anticipated highlight of the day was a program held at the Mother Rose Auditorium. What makes this tradition so beautiful? It is not just an ordinary song and dance show. Here’s why

Finally after three years, the annual Assumption College Homecoming was celebrated face to face. The special Sunday (Oct. 15) brought back happy old girls to their good old school grounds where unbreakable bonds of love were forged.
The sentimental celebration began with a special thanksgiving mass officiated by Fr. Tito Caluag. The Our Lady of the Assumption Chapel was packed with Assumption alumnae in attendance, nostalgically dressed in their plaid uniforms. It was indeed a special day filled with excitement as many had come home from abroad to honor a beloved Assumption tradition.
The anticipated highlight of the day was a program held at the Mother Rose Auditorium. What makes this tradition so beautiful? It is not just an ordinary song and dance show. Each class comes together months before to pray for guidance through a spiritual batch recollection, prepare their performance and raise funds for the continuous education of underprivileged students in Assumption Mission schools. The precious blessing multiplied by this annual velada comes in giving back year after year to enrich the lives of those in need.
Sister Ana Maria Melocoton R. A. opened the velada with a prayer, thanking God for His presence in our lives. Assumption president Dr. Angela Regala welcomed the alumnae home with so much gratitude in her heart. She said, “This year’s celebration is a showcase of enduring ties of friendship and the bond of Assumption sisterhood. It is a priceless tradition that allows us to reminisce old friendship and reconnect with old friends, faculty and members of the Assumption community. My heartfelt congratulations to all the jubilarians and gems! Thank you to high school batch of 1998 for inspiring, graciously hosting and leading the pack. We remember, we celebrate, we believe!
Assumption Alumnae Association president Carmela Gana Araullo thanked the Board of Trustees for their noble support and lauded the efforts of the hardworking AAA in carrying this tradition over year after year. All hail to our beloved Assumption and Happy Old Girls Day!
